Update
Okay, so it’s kind of obvious that I’ve fallen off track here. Let’s just say, I so did not think schoolwork would be as demanding as it turned out to be. Between 800-word journalism articles and 2-page psychology papers, the last thing I wanted to do for the past two weeks was write lengthy TV reviews.
But, things are settling down. There’s been a break in the workload, and when it starts up again, I’m going to be used to it. So here’s what’s happening.
I’ve found that even five shows is a little much for me, so if anyone wants to take The Good Wife or Trauma, please contact me, I’d love to give them away. If no one takes them, they’re just not going to be covered, period.
So, yes, I do realize I have quite a lot of catching up to do when it comes to Glee and The Vampire Diaries. Like I said, there’s been a break in my schoolwork, so I will be posting the reviews I missed over the weekend.

List of Premiere Dates
The start of the new season is coming up fast – more commercials are being shown on TV, more promos released online…and premiere dates set. Here’s the list for these shows, taken from the offical network websites. They’re in order of premiere date:
Glee: Wednesday, September 9 at 9:00/8:00c. FOX. Rerun of Pilot episode, September 2.
The Vampire Diaries: Thursday, September 10 at 8:00/7:00c. CW.
The Good Wife: Tuesday, September 22 at 10:00 ET/PT. CBS.
Eastwick: Wednesday, September 23 at 10:00/9:00c. ABC.
Trauma: Monday, September 28 at 9:00/8:00. NBC.

Oh boy. Can someone pass me some wine to wash down this cheese?
Anyone been to the official site yet? You’re greeted with the ever-dramatic sound of a thumping heartbeat, then it opens to a picture of a disaster car crash scene, complete with flickering flames and a smoking car. The videos are just as corny, with the main characters declaring their passion for the job, and extra emphasis on how these are all life and death, dangerous situations.
Then you’ve got the list of characters…which actually kind of reminds me of the Scrubs cast. There’s the hard-ass, ”don’t mess with me” woman Marisa Benez (Aimee Garcia), who’s good with all things technological. Blonde MD Nancy Carnahan(Anastasia Griffith) is the “caregiver and lifesaver” who “has the gift for medicine.” Dr. Joseph Saviano (Jamey Sheridan) is an older paramedic who is extremely detached from his patients but treats the crew like family.
A.k.a. Carla, Elliot, and Dr. Cox respectively, with a few character tweaks. Am I the only one who sees that? This is based on the character descriptions though, as I’m sure they’ll seem much more different when the show begins.
Anyway, four others make up the team. Reuben “Rabbit” Palchuck (Cliff Cutis) is a slightly crazy but skilled medic who barely survived a disaster a few years ago. Cameron Boone (Derek Luke) is trying to find the balance between family and work. Tyler Briggs (Kevin Rankin) has been on the team forever and has a bromance going on with Boone (ah ha! Like Turk and JD!). Rounding out the group is eager newbie Glenn Morrison (Tyler Kinney) who hopes to turn his experiences into a book one day.
So, seven main characters, one of whom is going to be gay (from an article on IMDB). Throw in the predicted “emergency of the week,” and this could get messy. And as in “messy,” I mean forget plot A and B – we’ll probably get through to F or G each week at least.
But still, with everything said about the promos…it does look like it could be a good show, especially for someone who doesn’t know medical drama cliches. Who knows, maybe I’ll have to forgive NBC for how they treated Medium and give this a try.
Premiere of PT
Hey, it’s the premiere of Premiere Tracker!
Okay, that was corny, but it had to be done.
Since the fall season is still three weeks away, this in-between time will be used to keep tabs on the hype for the shows I’m going to follow. Shows are subject to change, but I think I’m going to stick with this list. This info was pulled from a TV Guide article, which also provides a handy list of show descriptions. From these, and various articles I’ve seen about the fall line up, here’s my take on each show.
Trauma, Mondays at 9/8c, NBC: Features an EMT team treating trauma victims, starring Anastasia Griffith (Damages) and Derek Luke (Antwone Fisher) IMDB board members expect it to be full of medical drama cliches, but since I don’t watch these types of shows, it’ll all be new to me. Expect reviews to stick to acting/script, since the closest this blogger’s ever come to a medical show is a few episodes of Scrubs.
The Good Wife, Tuesdays at 10/9c, CBS: Former attorney and wife (Julianna Margulies) of a politician goes back to work when her husband goes to jail for a prostitution sex scandal. And cue the Eliot Spitzer flashback. Honestly, strong woman lead who’s affected by a tragedy – sounds like your typical Lifetime movie.
Glee, Wednesdays at 9/8c, FOX: Fox knows how to get good numbers for a premiere - this show about the rebirth of a high school glee club, starring Matthew Morrison as the club’s advisor, debuted after the season finale of American Idol. And, even better, the version of Don’t Stop Believin’ sung in the pilot by the cast has been avaiable for iTunes download ever since. This is bound to do well, but will the audience stay to watch after the premiere hype? Personally, I thought the pilot was good, cheesy fun, reminded me of High School Musical but for the adult crowd.
Eastwick, Wednesdays at 10/9c, ABC: As a formly obsessed Charmed fan, this show could be an answer to my petty TV prayers. Will this be the supernatural dramedy I’ve been long aching for? The basic premise of three suburban witches – an artist (Rebecca Romijn), a housewife (Jaime Ray Newman), and a reporter (Lindsay Price) - is promising, and ABC itself described the show as a combo of Charmed and Desperate Housewives. Paul Gross also stars.
The Vampire Diaries,Thursdays at 8/7c, CW : If the Twilight movies and True Blood haven’t yet quenched your thirst for blood suckers (oh yeah, had to do the vampire pun), tune in to The CW’s The Vampire Diaries. Is this meant to replace the predicted-to-be-doomed Smallville? Considering it’s in Smallville’s timeslot, I’d say that could be an affirmative. Destined to be compared to Twilight, this series features new high school student Stefan (Paul Wesley) who falls for fellow student Elena (Nina Dobrev). The twist? Stefan’s got a brother, Damon (Lost‘s Ian Somerhalder), who also thirsts for blood. My guess the tone will be similar to the show it’s replacing - tons of brooding and dramatic, teen angst. Of course that’s just a guess.
